Borough Council:

Meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Green Tree Municipal Center, 10 West Manilla Avenue, except in September because of Labor Day, when it will be held on the second Monday of September. Additional Council meetings are held on other Mondays throughout each month as needed. Borough Council agendas are available on-line the weekend before a scheduled meeting and minutes are posted after formal approval by Council.

Here are some of the boards and commissions that help our commuity operate smoothly. Volunteers are often needed for these committees. Click here to download Green Tree's Volunteer application form. Submit the form to the Green Tree Borough offices, 10 West Manilla Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. As openings occur on these committees, those applications on file will be considered. We'd love to hear from your!

Planning Commission:

Workshop meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m., and business meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers. Workshop and business meetings are combined into one meeting during November and December because of the holidays and held on the second Wednesday of those months at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from these meetings are posted after they are formally approved by Planning Commission.


Zoning Hearing Board:

Meetings are scheduled as appeals are received. Meetings are held in Council Chambers. Click here to download a Zoning Hearing Board application.


Traffic Advisory Board:

Meetings are held on an "as needed" basis. As issues arise, TAB meets at 7:00 p.m. on the last Tuesday of the month. Check the Calendar of Events or the Meeting Agenda page to see when meetings will be held and items that will be discussed. The Traffic Advisory Board deals with traffic issues, concerns or problems and makes recommendations to Council. Those with traffic concerns should contact the board through the Borough Offices, 10 W. Manilla Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15220, (412) 921-1110, or e-mail us directly. Minutes from these meetings are posted after they are formally approved by the Traffic Advisory Board.


Library Board:

Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Poplar Room at the Municipal Center.


Recreation & Community Activities Board:

Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at
6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Center. This board assissts in planning annual community events, such as Independence Day at the Pool, Light Up Green Tree and Holiday Decorating Contest, Snowman Contest, Pirate Night, plus activities that include the annual Halloween Parade and more. Many helping hands are needed to keep this committee going. Feel free to join them, to offer help on a specific event or help with all of them and provide input on existing or proposed community activities.


Civil Service Commission:

The Civil Service Commission is responsible for administering the Civil Service Examination to applicants for positions and promotion within the Police Department. It is also responsible for holding hearings in cases of dismissals or reduction in rank of police officers. The Commission is composed of three members appointed by Borough Council. The Civil Service Commission does not have regular meetings, but rather meets as needed.


Board of Appeals:

Pa Uniform Construction Code (Code) requires that the Borough have a Board of Appeals to hear such appeals, requests for variance, and requests for extensions of time as may be allowed under the said Code. Click here to download a Building & Fire Code Appeals Board application.


Code Appeals Board:

The Code Appeals Board (CAB) meets as needed to review applications involving special requests for exemptions from building and fire code requirements or to appeal a decision of the Building Code Official. Click here to download a Code Appeals Board application.


Farmers Market Committee:

The Farmers Market Committee organizes and runs Green Tree's Farmers Market is held each year from May through October at Green Tree Park. Working with local vendors, setting up the market, working on special weekly events and entertainment for the market, or obtaining sponsors are all part of this committee.


Octoberfest Committee:

Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month as needed, except for December, at 7:00 at the Municipal Center. This Committee is responsible for planning and running Green Tree's annual Octoberfest at Green Tree Park. This two-day event includes opening ceremonies, strolling entertainment, games, food, entertainment for all ages, fireworks, wagon ride, petting zoo, pony rides, car cruise, and amusement rides. Along with financial support from the Borough and local business community, volunteers are always needed to help in planning, obtaining sponsors and working the event.
