Refuse pick-up can include furniture, appliances, plumbing fixtures and accessories, newsprint and other trash, scrap, litter, debris, household equipment such as stoves, refrigerators, water heaters and furnace pipes, broken glass, bottles, crockery, tin cans, waste and refuse normally generated from a household or public building, lawn and yard debris, such as lawn clippings, weeds, leaves, twigs, vines, clippings from shrubs and hedges, garden plants, tree branches not exceeding 36 inches when cut, building materials smaller than 3'x2'x2'.
Mattresses and box springs will be collected curbside, but MUST be covered with plastic should it be raining or snowing between outdoor placement and collection. If the mattress/box springs become too wet, they will be too heavy for the trash collectors to lift and will not be taken. No rain or snow; no problem!
Some restrictions apply when disposing building materials. Please contact the Borough Office at 412-921-1110 for specifics and additional information.
Disposal of large appliances require that doors are removed from them for safety reasons. Refrigerators and air conditioners MUST have the freon removed prior to placing it at the curb. An appropriate sticker indicating that the freon has been removed must be prominently displayed on the refrigerator or air conditioner or it will not be collected.
If you are unsure whether an item can be placed at the curb for collection, please call the Administrative Office at 412-921-1110 or email us.
A special GLASS ONLY bin is available at the Recycling Center. Please rinse your glass items before taking them to the Recycling Center and try to place them into the glass recycling bin gently to avoid breakage. Glass must be place in loosely (not in bags or boxes).
